The company was founded in June 1910 as 'Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili' - or short: A.L.F.A. Five years later engineer Nicola Romeo acquired the business. Shortly afterwards they put their focus on car racing and the development of racing cars like the Alfa 24 HP.
